Getting Started with Lane MicroBusiness

Opening a business can be both exhilirating and frightening. Exhilirating when you make your first sale and accomplish tasks that you did not think were possible. Frightening when you realize that you are thousands of dollars in debt because you built a business and nobody came. We've seen both success stories and failures. By working with us, we can help you improve your odds of success and reduce your risks of failure.

Lane MicroBusiness serves all low-income individuals living in Lane County and a number of individuals living throughout the state of Oregon. We encourage you to contact us if you are thinking of setting up a business or wanting to expand your business. You must meet our eligibility requirements to be eligible for our free services. A full description of our MicroBusiness Management Program is available for download.

If you are not eligible for our services, you are welcome to use our web site. Our online courses are available to everyone although you must pay a modest fee if you are not covered by a grant. We offer a couple of online classes without charge. You will need to register and pay a fee to view a number of the online courses.

Program services fall into three categories:

  • Training (classes, workshops, and peer groups)
  • Technical Assistance (one-to-one counseling, business planning assistance, marketing assistance, and management assistance)
  • Access to Capital (microloans, Individual Development Accounts)
