Flanking a customer, Tess Velasco (left) and Monica Garcia Guzman first approached Lane MicroBusiness in the fall of 2004. Tess was interested in opening up a retail store to sell handicrafts from Peru.

Tess has been an enthusiastic participant in the LMB program. She has taken almost all of the classes offered by LMB including feasibility, writing a business plan, QuickBooks, Excel, MS Word, MS Publisher plus many others. Monica works for Allpamama as the Bilingual Handicraft Coordinator.

Tess works at another job during the day and has been working with Monica and Monica's father in the evenings and weekends to put together their business.

Tess and Monica began selling their products at the Association for Enterprise Organizations national conference in Portland in May 2005. They have had a booth at the Business Development Center's open house in May and shared a booth with LMB at the Lane County Fairgrounds in August 2005.
